Why You Should Come To Camp – From a Counselors Perspective

Camps are up and running and we are thrilled with the memories that are being made! We love hearing all the success stories from camp, and we also love hearing them from different perspectives! Today, we wanted to hear why you should attend camp from a counselors perspective!

With that being said, meet Ciare’ Kirk!!

Ciare’ is a Junior at Auburn and is majoring in Marketing.

After interviewing Ciare’, here were her thoughts on why you should attend camp!

Did you attend a camp? If so, which camp?

Yes, I attended the Sr. and Regular Vet Camp.

If you could attend any camp through AYP, which would it be and why?

If I could attend any camp through AYP it would probably be the Real Cents Real Change camp, because I think learning about finances at a younger age is important because once you get to college and on your own you’re expected to know how to handle your finances.

What advice would you give to a student considering attending a camp?

The advice I would give to a student considering camp would be to just have an open mind and do everything. The experiences you get at camp are life changing and trying everything offered is important because you never know if you’ll have another opportunity to do it again.

What has been your favorite experience during camp, from a counselors perspective?

My favorite experience during camp is probably during the Aviation camp, getting to see all the ins and outs of the airports and planes and seeing the excitement from the kids. Basically just being there to see a change and make a difference.

What makes Auburn Youth Programs unique?

What makes AYP unique would have to be everyone’s willingness to learn. There’s kids from different backgrounds from all over the place and you think it might go one way but then it does a complete 180 and everyone is enjoying each other’s company and having a good time.

We are so thankful for Ciare’ and all she has contributed to Auburn Youth Programs! We hope her input will help you make the decision to attend a camp in the future!
