What is Auburn Youth Programs?

Auburn Youth Programs is an extension of University Outreach that sponsors and executes over 100 summer programs designed to educate and inspire youth in a variety of academic, athletic, and extracurricular endeavors. Participants have the opportunity to further their education, develop skills while making new friends, and experiencing life on the beautiful campus of Auburn University!

What makes AYP different? 

Auburn Youth Programs isn’t your typical summer camp experience. Many of our camps are hosted by schools and departments of Auburn University, and lead by their faculty and staff. This is why we say “It’s more than camp. It’s campus life.”, because you’re getting a sneak peek into what working within a curriculum at Auburn University could look like for your student. Campers will experience campus life, while residing in Auburn’s resident dormitories, working within Auburn facilities and laboratories, as well as eating at the campus dining halls. Our overall mission is to ensure your camper has the best experience possible, while growing their skills on Auburn University’s campus.

“Our summer camps are unique in that our campers get to explore their academic interests in a low pressure, hands-on environment, while also getting to interact with their peers like they would in a traditional summer camp environment. Because of our low counselor to student ratio and tendency to keep camp sizes small enough to ensure all campers will be engaged, our campers always receive one-on-one attention throughout the duration of camp.”

What do you get out of our camps?

We aren’t just any summer camp program. Our camps give the opportunity for students to work with professionals in each field and find their true passion. May this spark a hobby, potential college major, or even a future career. Our goal is to give AYP campers all the tools they need to dive deeper into their interests.

Our Emergency Medical Responder Camp is a great example of this because students learn how to take vitals, proper lifting and moving skills, in addition to treatment for a variety of common emergencies. Campers will also have the opportunity earn their healthcare-level American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification at the end of the week!
